Home      Part P

Part P of the building regulations came into effect in January 2005.  Many people have heard the term 'Part P', but
few people fully understand what it means for them.

All electrical work in the home must now comply with Part P.  Not only does this mean that there are very few areas of
electrical work a homeowner can carry out themselves, it also means  even an experienced electrician must either
inform the local authority building control when undertaking all but the most simple of jobs or they must belong to a self-
certification scheme.

The NICEIC is the main self-certification scheme.  As part of the NICEIC Approved Contractor scheme, Kent Security & Electrical
is assessed  every year to ensure that we are competant to design, install, test and certify all electrical systems.

There has been an increase in the number of traders falsely claiming to belong to one of the schemes, even using the logos
on their vans and on adverts, if in doubt please check on www.niceic.com
